Experiences of the Lived, Female Body | Exhibition by Ellie Neason
May 20 @ 9:00 am - May 31 @ 3:00 pmFree
Preview evening: Monday 20th May, 6-8pm
Eleanor’s research is a personal, explorative, performative process surrounding the perceptual function of the body, highlighting individual experiences in social, political and physical roles as a woman, further identifying and highlighting the potential of the female body.
The work presented in this exhibition, begins to question Merleau-Ponty’s acclaimed philosophy on embodiment through the act of performative drawing, revoking the notion of self-examination and exploring ways in which one can perceive their own body.
“It is by lending his body to the world that the artist changes the world. We think and we record through drawing into paintings” (Merleau-Ponty and EDIE, 1964).
Exhibition opening times 9am – 3pm Monday to Saturday
