On October 15th, Lucy Wells and Chris Trenerry married at Devonport Guildhall. Having got to the final 10 couples in the Herald’s competition ‘Win a Dream Wedding 2016‘ but just missing out on winning their dream wedding, Devonport Guildhall made their dream come true by offering their venue for free.

With a baby girl on the way, Lucy and Chris saw the Herald competition as a great opportunity for them. Lucy really wanted to share the same surname as her family. They got down to the final 10 out of the 140 couples that entered the competition, but sadly didn’t win. Devonport Guildhall wanted to give them their special day by offering the venue to them. With exquisite décor by Seaspray wedding and event specialists, the day was everything the couple had dreamed it would be.

The new Mrs Trenerry said: “When I got the call from Chris saying Devonport Guildhall were offering us the venue for free, I couldn’t believe it! It was amazing!” “We are overwhelmed by the generosity from both Devonport Guildhall and Seaspray who provided all the stunning decorations; no one has ever done anything like this for us before” “We really wanted a Plymouth wedding and it was amazing to be getting married somewhere with such a great history.”

Louise Evans, Manager of Devonport Guildhall said: “We supported Chris and Lucy throughout the Herald competition and really wanted to see their dream day become a reality. Offering our venue meant their dream came true and we are so happy to have been a part of the special day. We wish them the best of luck in the future.”

Lucy and Chris have been together for 6 years. They met at a Plymouth Raiders basketball game; Lucy’s brother in-law was a Plymouth Raiders basketball player, and Chris was the team’s mascot, Foxy.

Chris proposed last year in Paris under the Eiffel tower. The trip was a birthday surprise for Lucy.
