A popular live music session at Devonport Guildhall is launching its own ‘big name’ gigs, off the back of the success of their Column Acoustic live music nights. The first ‘Column Acoustic Presents’ is happening at Devonport Guildhall on Thursday 14th November, and should capture the interest of a very loyal crowd.

Scottish folk legend Dick Gaughan is headlining the first of these new music sessions. The musician, songwriter, composer and producer has toured in other countries, delighting fans with his Scottish soulful style, however his next gig will see him firmly back on UK soil and in Plymouth’s welcoming arms!

The Scottish singer once lived in the coastal city, so returning to play for the Plymouth crowd is extra special.

Dick Gaughan has been composing and singing folk and Celtic-inspired music since 1970 and Column Acoustic organisers are overjoyed at introducing such a coveted big name act.

Marc Gardiner from Zebra Collective, one of the Column Acoustic organisers, says, “We’ve been big fans of Dick Gaughan for over 30 years, and it’s a bit unbelievable we have him playing for us here at Devonport Guildhall for our first ‘Column Acoustic Presents’. His greatness is the ideal launch.”

The artist’s style of music is perfect for the Column Acoustic sessions, which feature a lot of folk, blues, sea-shanty and soul music.

Previous Column Acoustic headliners and Plymouth favourites Crazy Arm are the support act on the night.

Devonport Guildhall’s Column Bakehouse will be open from 6:30pm, selling delicious vegetarian food, and the music kicks off at 7:30pm.

Tickets can be bought in advance for only £10 by calling 01752 395028. Entrance is £12 on the night.
